Who Is Your Father?

There is a large misrepresentation of Fatherhood in our culture, and it seems that in many cases either fathers don't know what is expected of them or the role of fatherhood is misunderstood by those who would call them father.
Since physical fatherhood is meant to be a direct resemblance of our heavenly Father, we also find ourselves misunderstanding His role in our lives as well.
Our heavenly Father (God) is our creator and through our creation has laid claim to us as our Father, yet for one reason or another, we reject Him as our Father and turn to an illegitimate father (Satan/one who is a usurper) and though this usurper has kidnapped our hearts; he doesn't care for us.
There is currently a push by our culture to strip the gender from God the Father. This is an attack on the character of God as our Father and as the source of our life.
Since Satan has been able to turn us from our true Father (who really does care for us), he has fed us lies about who our real Father is and has caused us to see our real Father as a harsh, uncaring, out there kind of father.
The view of our heavenly Father is so warped that He sent His Son (Jesus Christ) to show us, as His creation, who He really is.
Jesus said, "If you have seen me, you have seen the Father".
Many of us can identify with Jesus. He has shown us that He cares for us through His sacrifice for our sin. Remember though, If you have seen Jesus, you have seen the Father.
The very things we see in Jesus that have drawn us to Him, are characteristics in the Father as well. The Father is full of Grace. He is slow to anger. He is full of Mercy. He is the foundation of Love. He is Patient and Kind. He fills our needs.
Our view of our heavenly Father is so warped, that as we accept Jesus' Sacrifice our view of the Father begins to incrementally change. As our view of our heavenly Father changes, earthly fathers begin to understand their role as an earthly father and their hearts become drawn to their children, and they become better fathers.
If our view of our heavenly Father is warped, our relationships will be affected.
Satan, though a created being by God, will stop at nothing to receive the glory for God's Creation and to garner a following of God's Children both created and recreated.
Note: There are many fathers who have done well. Their understanding of fatherhood was no doubt passed down to them from their fathers. As earthly fathers, though, there is always room for improvement and as we understand more of our heavenly Father; improvement will come.
