God took Hosea on a journey of pursuing a rebellious bride. This journey was to help Hosea know the end to which God is willing to go in pursuing his own bride. This symbolism portrayed God’s complete and unconditional love!

This entire scenario was completely unconventional for the day. Divorce was accepted, yet was not an option for Hosea. He was probably mocked by those who didn’t understand, and his love was being mocked by his wife.

Hosea’s wife didn’t comprehend the price he paid to redeem her from her shame. Her wandering heart lured her away from the very person who was there for her security.

She was a prostitute before Hosea took her as his wife. His love for her is symbolic of God’s love for His bride. God’s love is offered to all regardless of their background.

Hosea’s wife was through her wandering heart was drawn to shame. It is presumed that Hosea redeemed her from the slave auction.

Her ungodly character produced ungodly fruit.
